no work, yet

Most of the folks who attended yesterday's party are home or headed there... [personal profile] geekchick and C. left this evening, Julie's back home... our house is messy, but we've been out for most of the day.

This morning, [profile] patgreene was exhausted so I took David and Kevin with me to church. With some trepidation, admittedly... members of her covenant group were all praying in support of her last week during a particularly tense time between us, so I was expecting a possibly-cold reception there. It really wasn't an issue, though.

After lunch, we headed out to the beach with the kids, going to Pescadero. Talked to [personal profile] hopeforyou while driving up 84... she was standing in Madrid at midnight, on the street. Dave and Nancy are staying at a lovely horse ranch overlooking Pigeon Point lighthouse, and they met us at the beach. Watching my three offspring marvel at shark's teeth and a rotting seal carcass, and wrestle in the sand... as fog rolled in. It was cool, almost chilly.

We stopped at Archangeli for fresh bread and groceries, said goodbyes and headed back. I changed quickly and headed out for dinner with [profile] woodsbunny (Barbara) and a stroll along Castro St. in Mountain View. Scored two used copies of the 7/99 issue of National Geographic magazine, so I now have a copy of the issue where I was interviewed (HMP story ;).

Nice while it lasted :)

For once, I actually wish the weekend were longer... that was a blast, and I felt happy and loved. Now... back to reality... Monday morning, careful personal boundaries and filters, and stress in the office. Time for telecons and tracking packages and past-due articles.

Spanish truckin'

[personal profile] hopeforyou is doing better, and is busy photographing pieces of Spanish military equipment at Torrejon AFB outside of Madrid... I thought I'd share a couple.

that time of year...

Having tapas for lunch on a shaded veranda with the lovely (and perky... ;) [personal profile] dawnd today... I received calls from [personal profile] hopeforyou, also having dinner in Madrid (which I answered, basic mission accomplished) and from Pascal Lee in Resolute (which I didn't answer since it was "unknown" on caller ID, and, well, I was having lunch with Dawn). That time of the year... field projects are moving forward.
