back home

Today I took the day off from work, and just lazed around the house and mostly slept. Hung out with the kids and cuddled patgreene. Decompression, except for a trip to Costco... which was intense and disorienting, but Ikea would have been worse. Teeming with visual confusion and crowding.

Tonight I began reconnecting, seeing tenacious_snail (who came over and cleaned the kitchen and then folded laundry with me), and later cyan_blue (who stayed for dinner, and cake afterwards :).

Tomorrow... back to the office.

Nice welcome back...

A modest ($750) performance award was waiting for me at work this morning, as well as a proposal review from NASA HQS that said nice things (although they decided to fund no new work at all, this year). And in hallway conversation, when I mentioned returning from the Arctic, someone asked me if I had anything to do with the Mars drill testing they'd heard about... so apparently it is getting some visibility with Ames, at least.
