Grumble...

The last day or so have scraped... [profile] patgreene was driving our van yesterday and it quit. Near home, fortunately. A blown head gasket, together with machining, a new radiator, and water pump will cost me $2K. Which I don't have... and another $2K in property taxes is due in 3 weeks.

Speaking of [profile] patgreene, she had trouble breathing yesterday... I skipped work (missing a Mars drilling meeting) and took her to the clinic -- a mild case of pneumonia. With only one car, I've been taking time off from work to take care of her and run errands -- and she can't drop me off at work herself because visitors aren't allowed on base under Threatcon Charlie.

And I've self-inflicted some stress, arguing about war-related topics with three or four people... someone that described my position as "nauseating", someone else that de-friended me, and Pat.

And then the new/old iMac that I bought through eBay arrived Monday... I set it up, and it ran fine for a few hours, and I loaded OS X. Then yesterday afternoon the color alignment went out... multiple images, color streaking, blurry... and this morning it was black. Effectively kaput. Another $500 wasted... now I have to go petition the seller for a refund.

Ah, nuts. I'm sorry to hear all this, Brian. Are we still on for lunch tomorrow? Let me know you can't make it for some reason. I don't want to ADD stress to your life!

*hugs*

Yes, please! Having lunch with you today has been one of the carrots that have helped me get through this week. Cancelling would actually add stress, not reduce it (smile).

Well, I look forward to seeing you in less than an hour, then!

(warm smile) yes, it was a lift for me.
