Field work is go

One other thing today... my travel orders for Devon Island were approved and signed. So it is highly likely that I'll be in Canada for the second half of July, continuing the spacesuited science productivity studies I began in the Arctic last summer. And hopefully doing a bit of geology around the impact crater site.

Oh, all right. (raspberry in [personal profile] geekchick's general direction *)

Last summer, I was at Haughton Crater doing field science productivity studies (how much is discovered with remote-controlled rovers vs. humans in spacesuits). The main Haughton-Mars Project website is run by Marc Boucher, who does the SpaceRef site. So SpaceRef donated a set of four webcams, which were placed around the camp and updated once every 10 minutes.

I was chatting with [personal profile] geekchick one "night" (it was daylight at 1am) in the otherwise-deserted work tent. In a burst of affection, I turned around towards the camera, puckered and blew a kiss. Just then the 10-minute timer went off, so an image of me blowing a kiss was displayed on the main project webpage for the next ten minutes (much to my chagrin). I never heard any feedback, so hopefully there were few hits then.

I still have the JPG somewhere...
