I'm quoted briefly in today's L.A. Times... see
http://www.latimes.com/la-sci-martians11jul11,0,2115271.story. Which just led to a call from CNN, who may cover this year's field season, after all. Timing...

That's really cool...I was amused that you were talking to that journo while I was sitting here trying to order software online.

And knowing that I'm aware of the "schism" but will say nothing. Nada. Zip. Wheee!!!

They have volcanic craters at their site, we have a large impact crater at ours... nyah, nyah (giggle). Both are at about the same latitude and are good Mars analogs on Earth. But... there is scheduled air service to Grise Fijord in Canada, so the CNN article is incorrect in that respect...

Geeky scientist types aren't generally accustomed to picking up the phone and hearing "hi, I'm so-and-so from the CNN LA bureau"... that's more of a management/PR role in NASA.
