Thanks...

For the hugs and friendship. Drama has lessened, and Pat and I are speaking again. Flowers didn't hurt, nor did the news that our local daily (the San Jose Mercury) is printing something of hers on Sunday.

Otherwise...

I sent various small things today to all of the people with whom I consider myself to be in capital-R Relationships, using a web florist. Julie got a kit with candles, massage oils, incense and such. With a card asking her to relax, slow down, and please enjoy these with Greg (her spouse) and Dave (OSO). Perfectly reasonable, in a poly Valentine sense.

Except... that my card accompanied an identical package, sent to someone named Monica. Julie got Monica's card from Monica's hubby Nicholas. And Nicholas has been apparently thrown out of his house by Monica, who is apparently monogamous, jealous and mistrusting. Julie has been called by increasingly-panicked representatives of the web florist six times today. She's had to slowly explain poly relationships to them "yes, it *is* just like you think, except we're OK with that and it doesn't involve Monica or Nicholas. In any way." I've provided my telephone here in Pasadena in case Monica wants independent verification... one card switch, and a marriage blows up?

Wait. This woman got a card, supposedly from her husband, that says "Enjoy this with the other people you're involved with", and she throws him out, because she thinks he's cheating?!

How bizarre.

I hope it's resolved cleanly and soon. And I'm glad things are better with Pat.

Weird... but my understanding is that she thinks that her husband switched the cards accidentally, *not* the florist... hence "Julie" is the revealed Other Woman (and one with her own husband and another lover, at that!).
