Time to head home
Oct. 2nd, 2001 06:02 pmAnd time to stop procrastinating on that breakup letter to a certain ex-friend. Sigh. Not that I expect it to do much good anyway.
Fire drill time... at 9am we were hit with "new Center initiative in aviation security" (probably to compete for funding with what the folks in Norfolk are putting together), "brainstorm and written summaries are due back by 3pm today."
And at the same time, two friends-in-need needed a lift to San Jose airport from SF (well, one of them did, the other needed a ride back to SF afterward). In addition to being two pretty-hurt-puppies, they are way oversubscribed and hard to spend any time with otherwise. So off I went, doing airport shuttle duty. Friends in question were glum and hardly said anything on the way down. Given their problems, they're entitled... life has thrown a lot of crud at them both, lately.
Back home 190 miles later, I met my kids home from school (barely), then worked frantically from home to get my airport security concept written up and turned in by 3pm. I was only 20 minutes late, but only because I had anticipated this fire drill 2 weeks ago and already had worked-up an idea. My Mars drilling automation meeting got postponed until tomorrow, thankfully. And my backside is still sore from the freeway...
