rumble, ramble, rumble
Mar. 28th, 2002 01:01 amThe Palo Alto dinner was fun... honey-glazed prawns with candied walnuts. Mmmm.... I sat kind-of-scrunched-up between
sinboy and
rmjwell. The latter's hair lived up to expectations, flaming pale blonde. [insert generic blonde joke] But RA looked exhausted and ill... if she hadn't been running things, I would have wanted to buy her chicken soup. But
hopeforyou actually seemed much more chipper than I expected from her LJ entry.
Then there was ice skating lessons, and we prepared for next week's end-of-term testing. Then back to Palo Alto for coffee... LJ is becoming ever-more-commonplace. At one point, everyone left there was an LJ user... And I have now certifiably met
eeyore74 :-). We ended the evening around 11pm, talking about why poly society is a matriarchy and why there seem to be more alpha females than males. The average branching factor n per person certainly seems to be larger, i.e., n*(f)>n*(m).
Back on the ranch... I'm finishing a final draft of a report on Mars drilling automation for the 2009 mission, due Friday. It also appears that I will get to see Julie on Friday (yay!) in the North Bay, each driving partway. And my $200k funding for this summer's field exploration work arrived from Washington today, and my boss gave me the go-ahead to mobilize the necessary people and resources. Away we go... (rumble of distant ATVs)
