Actually, I've only been here since midnight, after a lovely date with Barbara.

Birthday presents-r-us. -r-them. -r-something...

A couple of weeks ago, I was out with patgreene and we were idly talking about places we had visited ( I get to travel abroad sometimes on business, and have taken her along a few times). I asked her "what places that you haven't visited would you most like to see?" I expected the South Island, Rome or London... she paused and said, "actually, I'd really like to visit New York sometime." My jaw dropped... we both went to school around Boston, and I often visited a close friend on Long Island, so it hadn't occurred to me that Pat had never been there.

So as a birthday present, Pat found a set of airline tickets and hotel reservations for May 10-13 in NYC... ;-) Now she's bubbly and excited... and the hyper-chocolate cake went over well, even if it was too intense for the kids' tastes...

That went over so well that I actually got a birthday present yesterday for someone else, that I've never even seen (chuckle)...
