Here are the last 25:

76. In 1999-2000 I put together a new research program in Intelligent Systems, then left because higher-ups wanted someone from outside NASA as the lead.

77. My underlying philosophical approach regarding abortion is that whatever laws or guidelines should be legally consistent, using the same clinically-observable standards for deciding when life begins as when it ends (i.e., brain function, heartbeat). If it's OK to remove transplant organs from a brain-dead accident victim kept going by machines, then first-trimester (roughly) abortions-on-demand are also OK, symmetrically.

78. I have near-continuous memory back to age five. Before then, I can remember episodes, some going back identifiably to nine months.

79. I have a long trunk and short legs - I look taller when sitting at a table than when standing.

80. Growing up, I was politically conservative (matching my surroundings). I entered essays in John Birch Society student writing competitions on "The Threat of Communism in our Schools" and similar. Once I left my sheltered, homogeneous cultural environment, experienced other viewpoints and cultures and saw more firsthand suffering and human tragedy, my political point of view evolved... I would now consider myself liberal on social issues (strongly supporting of individual choice over social/cultural prescriptions) and moderate on fiscal/economic issues.

81. In high school, I lettered in math, soccer and band.

82. As a teenager, I ignored pop music in favor of classical. Exposed to new wave and punk music in college, I actually paid attention to some 80s music. Then listened to country-folk in the early 90s. Then, with the splintering of pop music into indecipherable metal, insipid fluff, and rap, I stopped listening altogether for five or six years (I keep hoping that rap will follow in disco's footprints and vanish). I'd rather listen to techno or industrial than rap or hip-hop.

83. I've never seen a Tarot deck, much less had a reading done.

84. There are so many lovable, interesting people in the world... I feel sad sometimes that I'll only ever meet, love or know a microscruple's worth.

85. Video or computer games do little for me. I once played the original mid-70s vintage Space War game, on a tiny B&W monitor attached to a modified PDP-8 left semi-abandoned. Later games haven't enticed me.

86. In 1997, I had throat surgery for a benign vocal cord polyp. That, having my wisdom teeth removed, and lazy-eye correction at age 2 are the only times I've had general anesthesia.

87. In high school in Cobb County, Georgia, "desegregation" then meant that we had four black students (out of 1800). It was very homogeneous... I didn't meet a Roman Catholic until high school, and didn't meet a Jewish or hispanic person until I reached MIT. At a reception at age 18, I encountered bagels for the first time and thought they were just really bad, stale doughnuts... in college, I survived a huge culture-shock, while nearly being voted "most obnoxious freshman" by my stoner-geek MIT dormitory.

88. I tend to avoid overt conflict, be passive-aggressive, and often communicate indirectly. I try to be polite, considerate and to ascertain what others want without them having to ask me.

89. My favorite food: shrimp, or better yet, prawns.

90. I'm allergic to mushrooms of various sorts, they'll provoke a fine rash, flushed face and eventually nausea after about 3-5 hours.

91. I know very little about pop culture, and don't care. The latest and greatest from Hollywood et al have little impact on my psyche. I go to movies more as a social event than for the flick, itself. Videos/DVDs at home generally have no social context and hence aren't particularly interesting. On the road, I never watch the airline movie or turn on my hotel room's TV.

92. Give me Dixieland or classic 20s jazz over bebop or modern jazz, any time. I want melody, not musical masturbation... similar to my dislike of most rap, much of modern R&B or glitzy, brainless-boy-group stage-waving...

93. I prefer soft red wines, smoky (not peaty) 15+ year single-malts and 75+% dark bitter chocolate, preferably Valrhona.

94. I still follow Atlanta-area sports teams, to the extent that I pay attention to organized sports at all nowadays. And the Raiders/A's over the 49ers/Giants, naturally.

95. Driving ATVs through rugged terrain is a lot of fun, on the job... I've only rolled a couple ;-). Someday I want to learn to ride a motorcycle, which has similar controls.

96. Environmental awareness on my part manifests itself in terms of recycling and energy-efficient appliances... but I'd be more credible if I weren't also a fan of excessive horsepower. I like small, nimble cars with powerful engines, and I drive aggressively.

97. I'm not firearms-averse, although I wouldn't keep one in my house. I'm checked out at work on .30-06 bolt-action and .45-90 lever-action (my favorite) rifles, as well as 12ga. pump-action shotguns and .44 revolvers. I'm a so-so shot, but enjoy range work.

98. I want to learn contra or English country dancing, and go to a Renfaire someday.

99. Ice skating lessons have been motivated both by skating with my kids (who take lessons) and by an LDR sweetie who does ice-dancing. One ambition of mine is to someday be able to do a few simple ice dance patterns with her.

100. I'm fond of traveling... airplanes, ATVs, car trips, Pullmans... just let me roam.
