It's been consciousness-raising, intellectually fascinating, and a culinary delight. Wish you'd all been able to come here, too. Maybe a group trip someday?

On the other hand, I think that *on this trip* it turned out just right... I would have been less aggressive about trying new things, staying more in my comfort-zone, had I had company. And I would have been much less approachable to people like the high school kids in Nara (I still have underarm bruises from squeezing through Buddha's nostril ;), the grandmother on the train, or the kids on the bus yesterday. I really value my friendship with Yuki, which was bolstered by lots of time spent together on- and off-duty. So while I was annoyed a few weeks ago that no one wanted to come with me, I think perhaps it turned out for the best. Accepting what is.

And now I have to pack, and turn in my wireless modem card, so I'll be offline for the next 18 hours. Sayonara... (happy smile)

Home again

The flight was uneventful, and I slept 5 hours (thanks to an Ambien that I'd gotten from [personal profile] hopeforyou in Alabama). I feel fine, and will be going to a church BBQ in an hour with [profile] patgreene and the kids.

More on this morning's wrap-up in Tokyo after I unwind and clean up.
