I find this poem by elorie insightful.

Saddam may be a trophy, but personally I don't see his capture as justifying spending $120B and thousands of civilian and military lives in Iraq... in five years, the place will probably be a despotic dictatorship again, just with a different despot. We've spent lives and money to settle what amounts to a family feud, IMO. There were probably never any weapons of mass destruction, hence nothing that justified a pre-emptive war.

If these opinions of mine are an insurmountable obstacle to anyone remaining friends with me, well, you've been duly informed...
