After going out four times last week, it was time to stay close... skating lessons, OS upgrades on home computers, housecleaning, yard work. Pruned one of our front rose hedges... they are beginning to bud and put out new leaves. The purple irises (waves to [personal profile] mactavish) are approaching their peak, too. I cuddled at home last night with [profile] patgreene and watched Red Dwarf while sharing some ice cream.

Today... getting ready to take the kids to church. Then work this afternoon on converting a portable dishwasher to a built-in.

No Super Bowl for me... [profile] patgreene is on her way home from [personal profile] rmjwell's party, so the game must be over. I don't know who won, and don't really care... I spent the afternoon with yard work, cooking, chatting with [personal profile] who_is_she and getting trounced in Mario Kart II by my seven-year-old son.

This is a departure from a decade ago and earlier... I used to follow sports teams and watch major events. This year I watched no NFL games all the way through, only one or two college games, no interest in basketball whatsoever (even though two of my schools are having excellent seasons) and spent far more time watching Little League than MLB. In the past five years... as an indicator, I've only watched one Super Bowl, and that was because the Raiders were local last year and Pat comes from the Tampa area. Before then, I don't think I missed one back to childhood.

It has been a lost shared-interest between Pat and I... she is still a fan, but has no one with whom to discuss prospects, controversies and off-season outlooks.
