After over a year of lessons at this level (Freestyle 1), I finally performed a regulation two-footed spin tonight... yay! Seven full rotations, and a clean exit. Most were fewer rotations in practice, but I'm continuing to slowly improve :).
Spirals were acceptable, as were my pivots, and my waltz jump and ballet jump (theatric arm movements... heh). OTOH, my outside 3-turns are rusty, so my half-flip jump entry is poor. And my backwards outside edges are uncoordinated. Still... with enough practice and work, it is possible that I could pass at the end of next term (April).
Work-wise... two telecons on drilling this morning, a pleasant lunch with
p3aches, a surprise visit home to see
patgreene, a task planning session, random bits of paperwork, and an introduction to the MERBoard hardware and software that colleagues in my building have created for showing science data and doing online whiteboards and real-time collaboration (the boards are based on large 48" plasma-type HD displays with touchscreens, 20 of them being used by the science team down at JPL). We might adapt them for our 2005 remote science demonstatrion from Spain. Personally, I'm now behind in hiring and personnel issues, and I need to buy some hardware, and write a revised statement of work for the drill system purchases, and get going on an impact crater paper due next month, and clean off my desk...
