*flutter* in the grocery aisle
Feb. 22nd, 2004 03:52 pmA new pan-Asian supermarket has just opened this weekend two blocks from my house, in the site of a former Albertson's. It has 40 kinds of fresh fish -- whole fish, cut to order. 5 kinds of live fish, swimming in tanks as well as live clams, mussels and the usual lobsters. Two kinds of fish heads. Aisles of unfamiliar rice pastas, condiments, beverages, Japanese breakfast cereals, an aisle of Mexican and Central American products. Iced coffee and tea drinks from Singapore and Korea and Taiwan. Yellow clear raw cane sugar from China.
But... also a half-aisle of baked goods... crackers, Phillippine cocoanut rolls, digestive biscuits from Hong Kong. And... in a pink box, "Hello Kitty Dream Cakes" , labelled "Upgrade Your Taste, The Ultimate Reward" and "A Family Favorite!" ... licensed from Sanrio, made in Korea. I immediately thought of
geekchick and my heart went *flutter* *flutter*... yes, I bought a box. They're like small Moon Pies -- "soft cakes with creme filling!"
