I'm headed out of town for two of the next three weeks... for only a few days each week, granted.

Next week: New York City, for a robotic drill design review

Wednesday, March 3
Northwest to Newark, via Minneapolis, dp. 6:35am arr. 7:30pm (4 hour layover)
then NJT train to Penn Station to a taxi.

Staying in the downtown Ritz-Carlton, West St. near Battery Park. Any advice on after-hours neighborhood character down there would be welcome. And I'm taking a friend to dinner on Thursday evening, so any new and interesting recommendations are likewise appreciated...

Friday, March 5
Northwest from Newark to SFO, dp. 4:30pm arr 11:19pm
(not going to games night... ;)

Then I'm home for the following week, and then away East again for two FAA meetings near Washington, DC

Monday, March 15
Northwest to DCA via Minneapolis again, dp. 6:35am arr. 6:25pm (3.5 hour layover)

hotel location TBD, depends on [personal profile] geekchick's moving plans...

Tuesday meeting in McLean, Wednesday in Falls Church, Thursday downtown at NASA Headquarters.

Return date also TBD, either Friday 3/19 or Sunday 3/21.

A year ago, I was on the road, where [personal profile] geekchick subsequently drove through a snowstorm for a date where we wound up looking for dinner at National Airport...

A good day it is when I get to kiss all three sweeties, spread across the continent, in one day :-).

Now to stretch my groggy body up (which insists on believing that it's really 3am, not 6am) and off to DC for some air traffic planning meetings... (yawn).

Two years ago, I was also on the road, this time in Florida as an invited guest of an astronaut friend to his Hubble servicing mission launch. Nancy and Dave were with me...

Up from a 3-hour nap, off now to KSC to catch a 3am bus to the launch viewing site for the 6:22am ET launch.... (28 Feb 2002, there was no 27 Feb entry).

What's vice today may be virtue tomorrow.

Timely, considering some of the processing I've done lately...

According to one mailing list I'm on...

Effective today, the Social Security Administration has sent
orders to their regional offices not to honor any marriage license
issued by the City and County of San Francisco after February 12,
continuing indefinitely. *Not* any /same-sex/ license, but rather
ANY license.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised... this is probably un-Constitutional, but it could likewise drag out for awhile in court. And it gives Bush a way to economically damage SF by squelching all marriage licenses, while undoubtedly blaming the mayor.
