An interesting perspective from today's homily... "... if you're fearful, perplexed and unbelieving about this, if you have "issues" -- welcome to the midst of the community. Not outside. *Everyone* has various issues."
James was a lector this morning at the high-church late-morning service. He looked better in my blazer and tie than I do... he's growing very quickly. He'll be taller than I am in a few months. He read well and made eye contact with the audience... complimented afterwards. Especially considering he's a 13-year-old, public speaking to a 200-person audience...
Then at home the kids ran berserk, competing to find the candy that I'd hidden early this morning.
After calling or otherwise trying to contact extended family, we just finished our dinner: glazed ham, sweet-potato casserole (little browned marshmallows on top), and casseroled macaroni and cheese (family recipe based on baking the macaroni in a homemade cheese sauce). And a half-bottle of 2001 Exe Syrah that I originally got as a room gift from the Hyatt near
geekchick's place ;-). I do cook well, if I say so myself (grin).
(contented belch)
patgreene and James are both napping... time to go clean up and do the dishes.
