This week is going to be stressful... I have to, at a minimum, turn in 5-7 proposal ideas for exploration research topics by today. Then finish a draft journal article on the subsurface structure of Haughton impact crater before Monday's meeting with the Office of Space Science at NASA Headquarters. Then write a half-dozen one-page proposal abstracts, collaboratively, due next Friday. This has all (except the paper) popped up in the past three days. And I have to stake out enough of a presence in exploration field research (based on the past six years of work) that I'm not just pushed-aside by higher management (now that it is suddenly fashionable, and a potential large source of research support).

On top of this... I have to deal with mundane household functions today (laundry, weekly groceries), a Little League game at 2pm for Kevin, helping David with his science fair project due Monday, somehow dropping off the portable dishwasher with the Dreamlanders, and [profile] patgreene and I have tickets for Great Big Sea tonight.

Then... up at 4:30am tomorrow and off to Washington... first through Seattle (brunch with [personal profile] who_is_she) and on to a late dinner in Dupont Circle with Pascal to discuss our proposals and field season planning. Work on the paper on the plane from Seattle. Monday... finish the paper draft and meet with JL in the morning, then the Space Science guys in the afternoon. That evening, dinner with [personal profile] geekchick somewhere, probably around Tyson's, depending on how celebratory and tired we both are.

Tuesday morning back to downtown DC, then leave after lunch for home (with a 5-hour layover in Minneapolis, dinner with Nancy there).

Wednesday... write 1-page proposal abstracts. Finally check in again with SD and [personal profile] hopeforyou. Probably no S&P, since I'll want some time to reconnect with Pat. Thursday afternoon is my DAME project telecon, but also David's annual IEP... stressful at best. We have to decide whether/how much mainstreaming for next year. Friday I give a half-hour status briefing to visiting FAA folks in the morning, turn in the final collection of my proposal abstracts, then hopefully escape for a long lunch with [personal profile] dawnd while the proposal-frenzy peaks at 2pm (5pm ET) at work ;-).

Then find some way to relax, next weekend... ;^)
