Dragged along my laptop to KS's new loft near U St... didn't get any work done, because there was a party going on. 15-20 people, nearly all of whom I knew from field work or past projects. Kelly and Oz are now the US and Canadian (respectively) people in charge of analog missions for NASA and CSA, for example. Jeff Jones, Darlene, Jen H., Loretta (who I hadn't seen since HMP-99, she now is the "flight attendant" for a private company that uses 727s to do zero-g parabolic trajectories). And others... just as the MEPAG meeting is a good networking venue, this was a more intimate space for catching-up.

I'm poly-open around this smaller, peer group, many of whom I've spent hours with (talking) in tents... that, plus a comment about the lack of good hardpoints on Kelly's hairdresser-type chair, got a "you're more interesting than I'd thought" comment from Loretta (snort).

Anyway, off to today's meeting in Arlington, lunch with [personal profile] danaeris, editing the analogs article with Kelly and seeing [personal profile] geekchick tonight :).

Turns out that the program manager for my DAME project is someone that was at the same party at KS's place, last night. Strange...

A good lunch with [personal profile] danaeris... I appreciated her taking the time from her AAAS meeting.

Tonight... [personal profile] geekchick met me at the Ritz bar, where we chatted before catching a cab to a country-French bistro in Alexandria. Very good food, decent wine, and wonderful company. Afterward... mmm. Just to talk with and hold a sweetie recharges my batteries.
