Well, there goes a $4M dice throw... we'll see how it lands, this afternoon.

anniversary, sort-of

Today's an anniversary of sorts, 4 years with J... since we connected at a party in Woodside in early 2001. Despite two breakups between us since then, I thought the date deserved recognition :).

And it has been only a bit over 3 years since I posted my first LJ comment in geekchick's journal :).

And my negotiations for more drilling automation development are going well, today, and I spent this morning in San Jose as a science fair judge at an elementary school.

More scrapeage...

Sigh. My task's 2005 funding was restored (yay!), but others weren't as lucky. So I had two part-time programmers, both of whom have lost all other support, and was told I could only keep one and had to choose by tomorrow (the contract ends Monday, the non-selected go home then). That scrapes. The guy I didn't pick is someone I've known for 15+ years there, but I needed the other guy's skills more for my drilling diagnostics.
