Last night, I had the honor of taking out the lovely
dawnd for her birthday. She wanted to see Nausicaa, the first of a set of Studio Ghibli films being shown in Berkeley this month. The movie was excellent, even with subtitles... afterward, we were amused by highly passive-aggressive behavior at a French restaurant that was open but really didn't want more customers ;). And I had a little birthday present for her in a purple bag :).
My point in writing is not to talk about a given date, though... actually, given that my car was in the shop, this wouldn't have happened last night without the support, cooperation and love of at least 8 people!
patgreene for watching the kids, including covering "pizza night" with Kevin's Little League team;
princeofwands for switching his
sarahh -date night this week with
karenbynight;
sarahh for loaning me her car to drive to San Leandro and then to Berkeley;
karenbynight for changing her date and for carpooling with
sarahh today, thus freeing the latter's car for me to borrow;
tenacious_snail for loaning me $18 on zero notice, a stress-relieving hug, and helping me pick out the birthday present, last week in NYC;
akienm for getting me the printed directions to the theatre and borrowing his parking placard;
grynz for going to the theatre in Berkeley with Dawn, and keeping us company through the movie there (I was a bit late arriving, we were in separate cars);
And the birthday girl herself, who kept up excellent communications with me as my plans and ETA evolved over several hours yesterday afternoon,was remarkably restrained despite several restaurant provocations, and was her usually-pleasant companionable self.
I have really good friends. And life does not scrape. Thanks... to all of you!
