Weekend dates :)
Nov. 26th, 2005 06:22 pmNot about seeing the HP movie last night with
patgreene, although it was IMO better than the first two. And did a good job of fitting the basics of the book into a movie script. And I had lots of fun talking with Pat, who was witty and insightful. :)
Or even going to Petaluma, 80 miles each way, to spend 90 minutes yesterday afternoon having Mexican food for lunch with JC, whom I hadn't seen in five months (and seeing
inflectionpoint and
tenacious_snail briefly en route).
No, my experiment in platonic "dating" this weekend was today... with my two youngest kids. I decided to specifically schedule time and activities together with them, to give them as much schedule weight as a friend or sweetie.
David and I went to Sunnyvale and played mini-golf, his choice... he actually beat me on several holes, it wasn't as one-sided as it used to be. He was excited when I sounded the sirens and won a free game with a hole-in-one on the last hole. :) Then I took both him and Kevin to Fresh Choice for soup and salad (also their choice :) for lunch. And after a bit of assisted yardwork, took Kevin skating at Winter Lodge... which was quite crowded, given the holiday and crisp cool skating weather. Lots of kids and inexperienced skaters, falling over and wobbling. I was like that, once. It's good to be reminded, sometimes. And it was fun to race around and swoop and coach my youngest and just gaze at his exuberance and happy grin.
Tonight... a regular date with
tenacious_snail. But I know how to do those. Today was an experiment.
