Mar. 18th, 2007 11:13 amA dose of mostly-mindless grunt physical labor helped me de-stress yesterday after last week. Not to mention a long lunch Friday with Nancy in Minneapolis, and 85%-off Lands End outlet bargains there... free upgrade on the flight home... and then seeing ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
patgreene and kids as well as tenacious_snail and cyan_blue soon after I got home. Surrounded by support and affection... even an SMS from geekchick. :)
And a phone message Friday morning from the Mars Technology Program office at JPL to the effect that they after all do want to fund our summer drilling automation test. Good thing I didn't let voicemail go unchecked for two weeks, this time ;-). But soon I may have the pleasant dilemma of trying to decide whether to do that, or another Exploration Systems drilling demo in July on Devon Island. Or both, if they're willing to settle on just one test site.
Yesterday I helpedtenacious_snail move, along with help from about ten other friends... Les is going from an apartment about a mile from my house, to a shared rented 4BR house across from James's high school... it would be a $1M+ home by local standards, complete with a detached workshop, hot tub, mini-orchard and lovely pool and patio. Too bad it's just short-term for her.
Later on after shopping withpatgreene, Pat and I went out to a local dive bar (Bogart's) in a strip shopping area near Lawrence, to play online trivia and drink Guinness on tap... they had live music, a blues band that was actually pretty good, enough to distract us from scoring well... (grin).
