packing, BBQ, fireworks, and...
Yesterday: on the 4th, I put in a full work day, finding and arranging and packing gear and equipment and clothing for the upcoming Arctic deployment. Then I ran the grill after 6pm, cooking for
patgreene and the kids...
cyan_blue came over for dinner, and we were joined by
tenacious_snail before we all went out to Stevens Creek levee near my office to watch the Shoreline/SF Symphony fireworks.
After the kids were in bed, Pat retired, Les went home... so Geri and I took a walk. It was a warm evening. We returned around 11:30pm... walking up the driveway...
... there was a tiny black-and-white booted shape in the shadows, on our walkway. And a slightly larger black silhouette in the shadows, that bounded under our fence door.
Kittenses. Littles. At *our* house, now... I asked James, and he said that he'd seen them a few times and thought they were living in our yard somewhere. And that there was a black-and-white mother cat often seen with them. Geri was squeeful... had food in her trunk. We left some on a concrete block, and it was gone in an hour. More out, and it had disappeared by morning. A bowl of water likewise empty.
I knew about the local possum and *its* piggy-back young... now we have a family of feral cats. I don't know what to do with them...
patgreene is allergic. At least now I know what's been disturbing the raked soil in my vegetable garden..
