away from the stress...
Aug. 13th, 2007 09:53 pmApart from the angst and stress around me in certain personal areas, which has been exhausting (and shows no sign of ending soon, unfortunately)... there are also some little satisfying things. Like harvesting green beans and tomatoes and even zucchini (ew) from our garden that I put in in late spring. The tomatoes and peppers are thriving... OTOH, there's lots of wild belladonna growing nearby, as weeds, so the soil and sun there must be favorable for Solanum. Pole beans are bearing, the squash is marching across, marigolds and basil are large and bushy.
Now that there's space in my garage, I'm thinking of picking up other domestic vocations that I'd put aside for years... like yeast breads... or homebrewing. Maybe this fall I'll clean and recondition my mash-tun, although I might use liquid malt for the first (new) batch. I have carboys and tubing and funnels and capping equipment all gathering dust.
And the latest Mars Society hab report refers to deploying instruments near a lake on Devon... using the name I originally gave that body (chuckle). And my performance bonus was in this weekend's paycheck, which helps. And my sweetie from Minneapolis , who is very solid and grounding for me, arrives this Thursday night. :)
