Nov. 7th, 2007 09:49 amI'm out of the office later this morning... can't justify brewing a new pot of coffee. My department has no communal coffee pool, nor does my employer provide caffeine. And I needed to rush the kids to school and had no time to stop at the Starbucks that is on the way to work. But... I have yesterday's day-long dregs in the pot... cold, thick stuff that has been sitting overnight.
It's still coffee, sort of... take the 6 ounces of tarry residue, zap for a minute to heat it and kill anything that might have grown overnight (it *is* a government research lab, after all), add boiling water from the local water dispenser to dilute, and stir. Now have hot dark stuff of the approximate specific gravity as coffee. Add triple the non-dairy creamer to balance the bitterness and slightly charred taste, and three spoons of sugar, and it's sort of ready...
