back in a groove
Jan. 24th, 2008 01:49 amSkating class tonight was hard, the teachers pushed our limits... spins for 20 minutes. I was dizzy after 5 and had to stop periodically to let my head clear.
But... I can do one-foot spins! Yay! Three or four rotations, once five... this is an advancement for me. And we learned a new, weird jump... Salchows. A left three-turn, followed by a pirouette in place with one's right leg swinging around, followed by the jump up and over to the right foot.
And I didn't fall down, once. :)
And earlier successfully defended myself in the main rink from a space-invading couple of hockey players (hockey players are a nuisance, they cut in too close and skate too aggressively, interfering with my concentration on maneuvers... appropriately-timed jumps are a good way to ward them off, something about the flashing metal up near their midsections causes them to back away the next time ;).
