physics and/of skating
Feb. 28th, 2008 08:30 amSkating lessons last night followed two roundtrips earlier (to drop off and pick up K.)... I was joined in the former by
tenacious_snail. We've been working hard to try to rebuild that relationship, lately, with some successes. Although after a pretty intense last 5 days, we're now headed into 10 days with much less contact (quality and quantity), so that may be a challenge. But it will mean I'll be more available for
patgreene, who deserves and needs more support right now (job stuff).
Anyway, we started with spreadeagles (skates pointed in opposite directions, like a split on ice), which are painful for me. I need to be more limber. ;) OTOH, I did well in half-lutz jumps... almost managed a change-edge spiral... and then worked hard on full-rotation flip jumps.
And yesterday morning I invited
cyan_blue to join me as a science fair judge at a south San Jose elementary school. I always enjoy it... as well as giving classroom talks on geology or planetary science.
