a bit of a lift

Work is mostly catch-up thus far this week... today I'm orienting a new student intern, who has the same name as someone already in this same division. Causing repeated headaches in getting badging and email and server access set up, as inevitably the given service desk will call me and inform me that they can't, becuse the person already exists in their database...

JL is only calling me at home after 8am thus far this year... one of my resolutions is to be "in the shower" anytime he calls before 9am. Perhaps he'll eventually get the message.

A bit of a lift... yesterday we got all of our held snail-mail from the past 2 weeks, and in it... a holiday card from [personal profile] geekchick! Awww.... I get another opportunity to fawn over some artifact, something with *her* inscription on it :-D. (happy bounce) Even if the inscription is probably the same thing written on two dozen such cards, it doesn't matter, I can still gaze at it and feel warmly...

And now we're getting some great soil images from Mars... :-).

I was in La when the mars success was announced. I felt really proud of you. I felt really good that I know you personally. I was happy for this success.Hugs T

Thanks! The drill folks that we're working with also made the rock abrasion tool (small rotary grinder) used on the rover...
