(meme from [personal profile] mactavish ;)
Currently on okcupid, after answering over 400 of their questions... my top-ten matches are mostly all people I've met... no lovers, but some friends: [profile] basmati, [personal profile] karenbynight, [personal profile] vvvexation, xaosia (unknown LJ), [personal profile] questioner, [personal profile] lysana, [profile] cortneyofeden, [personal profile] mactavish, [personal profile] eeyore_grrl, and [personal profile] rosefox. I've met seven, and six are already on my LJ list...

The computed match percentages range from 85-81%... so I doubt that I'd show up anywhere near the top of these folks' own lists (most people seem to have more, higher-percentage matches... hey, I'm just weird, OK? ;^). And my "worldwide" list is even lower, starting at 80% downward...

My top matches are all in the 81-86% ... nothing over 86%. Reading the process they use to get those numbers, I suspect over 80% is probably a pretty fair score. The only LJ'er of those is joemama, who I know other people know, but have never been introduced to.

There's a few in my top 100. All in the 70-80 range. [livejournal.com profile] wcb [livejournal.com profile] makovette and someone I know from irc #callahans (frankly I find it disturbing that Brendan and I would be a 77% match... the man gives me the creeps.... just goes to show you, even a well compiled algorythim can be wrong when it comes to predicting human behavoir.

I admit... haven't seen you on my radar though.... hurmmm

At least you get people who you've meet, my highest match is 82% and it is down to 70% before I get someone I know at this point.

On that database, I'm "brian1790" as my usual handle was already taken ;-).

OK, the results lists are a bit odd -- I had one at 89/90% that's still in the system but never shows on my list anymore, but mostly, my high world is 85/86% and my high local is 83%.

The highest ex I've found is 78/79%.

(The %s seem to vary as we answer different questions, but usually only by about a percent, at least on the high matches.)

I've noticed that if you tweak it by changing the local settings back and forth from "let okcupid pick" to "same state only", the trivial recomputation sometimes reclaims previously-missing matches.

I have one local person that shows up at 88%, actually, but is same-gender... after awhile, the high matches seem to converge, remaining nearly constant.

I suspect it'd be higher than 75% if it weren't for the smoking questions ;-)

fwiw, I "woo"'d you. What can I say, I was lazy.

You clock in at 79%. For whatever reason, damn near NOBODY I know shows up on my screen.

(grin) and I returned the favor... the database needs time to stabilize after answering a batch of questions. I find that people appear and disappear for no apparent reason.

And 79% still falls in my top-20. ;) Also, I noticed the "less trusting" result, and wondered about your past influences that might have led to wariness...

Well, why should I trust anybody? Maybe I'm just a touch paranoid. Maybe it is just my cynical nature. You decide. Probably truth, though.
