Signing off from Nerva...

I'm headed in a few hours this afternoon to Madrid, then home tomorrow morning. Yesterday... lots of cores. We're seeing Archaea and bits of biologically-created hematite in the surrounding pyrite and sulfates. Telefonica has still not fixed the ADSL router, so I'm handing that back to Jose-Antonio. And I went shopping over lunch yesterday...
Valverde is world-famous for its hand-crafted boots... big-time shoe manufacturers name lines of their products after the place. The oddity is that they are both very high quality and relatively inexpensive... much of their output goes to designer and name-brand sellers, who add 100-200% markups. So, I got myself a pair of black boots, shown here next to a set of riding boots requested by
aikenm. These cost less than Taiwanese mass-market shoes from Payless, at home...

And they're literally made on-site, as shown by someone finishing a couple of dozen western models in the background...

I also bought some dressy walking shoes nearby.
Before leaving, here's my home for the past two weeks, the Hotel Vasquez-Diaz in Nerva... I'm on the second floor in the corner. Swallow nests above my windows. Familiar now to Pat, Sarah and Dawn as well...

And another familiar sight is evening dinner in the upstairs dining room. Casiano, the innkeeper, is gesturing on the right side.

I'll miss it, and them... but it will be good to get home, after three weeks abroad.
