Yesterday I ended the day stuffed... and happy. I went over to [profile] deedeebythebay and [profile] coyote3502's with Pat and the boys, after spending the morning cooking at home (sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing). There were more of my friends and sweeties grouped together than I'd ever had before at one holiday meal. (smile) It was a bit noisy sometimes... about 20 adults, 14 kids, 3 turkeys. It was the happiest and low-stress Thanksgiving gathering I can remember in a long time, with almost no tension and without lots of processing of old family issues. A holiday postcard moment, even if not one that Currier and Ives would have recognized ;). And no political arguments with arch-conservative aunts and uncles, etc. I could relax and soak in the general good feelings and sense of fellowship and community. It was excellent, and much thanks to Mark and Darla for making it possible. :)

Oh, and [personal profile] dawnd had a corner on tart and tangy dishes (grin).

Today... had Pat call her doctor (dizzy spell last night), went to coffee with Pat, and watched our next-door neighbors moving out (I think they're renting it out, a 3/2/2 for about $2100/mo). And worked on stripping old 1960s vinyl shelf paper from an old Eichler cabinet on my patio. And repaired and regrouted missing shower tiles in Pat's bathroom.

As usual for me, there's no pleasure reading, no TV or videos, no football-watching... I'm running out of things to do otherwise, though. I'm tempted to go drop in on [personal profile] serenejournal's gathering, if I can muster the energy to drive another 80-mile roundtrip to the East Bay... already gone there four times in the previous five days.

Bring the family and take us (3, I think) to Petaluma's Christmas market on Sunday!

(smooch)

I really enjoyed what I hope will be the first of many holiday meals with you and our extended family of choice. And yes, the sweet potatoes were *divine*.

Sounds like the home projects were successful. So yay! for that part of the day. Also was glad to hear that the doctor said it wasn't anything urgent.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

I am hoping that there are many more holiday and other gatherings as wonderful as this thanksgiving was.
