I'm home now... crowded flights, grabbed an actual bagel (I'm not a fan of most bagels) from a sidewalk vendor outside of Penn Station, had a good lunch with Nancy en route. Her mother's been in the hospital for 10 days, Nancy's been very stressed... but her mom has improved and relief was evident. =)

I'm a bit tired, and not feeling sociable. And I've missed Pat and want to just stay close to her and cuddle.

Which could be possible in a different country in September... an email today from ESA: ... pleased to inform you that your submission, entitled "Drilling Automation for Subsurface Planetary Exploration" , to the 8th International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation in Space has been accepted for oral presentation. It's in Munich, 5-8 September. [profile] patgreene wants to join me there, if we can find childcare then. yay!

I hope you she can go with you, that would be cool. I missed an opportunity to go to Munich for $FormerEmployer a couple of years ago thanks to the project I got sucked into that kept dragging me out to Mountain View. :-) Munich kept getting put off and then I took the layoff.

Great! Isn't Oktoberfest at the end of September?

Last week of September, first week of October were the dates when I was living in Munich.

Of course there's always good beer around!

Where abouts is the actual meeting?

I don't know... I'd heard vaguely that it was mostly in September rather than October, but how early...?

Pat and I have been to Munich together, once... long enough to eat lunch in a city plaza and drink some beer before continuing onward in our "see all of Bavaria in one day" tour (1000km in one day, driving a rented BMW 740 over 220 kph to try to cram the major sights in one weekend day ;)...

Thanks! I may very well ask you and/or Nancy and/or Julie, since given my dad's illness and Pat's mom's age, grandparental coverage is out. And I know that you'll be there that week for J&A's wedding...

It's at the "Haus der Bayerischen Wirtschaft", which I assume means something like "Bavarian Industrial Conference Centre"...

yup...and while Sarah would be happy to help, its not really an option.

We can make this happen...but if nancy comes in town, can I take her to the wedding as my date????

No idea where that is in Munich, I'm afraid. Do they provide any addresses?
