Father's Day

after church, [livejournal.com profile] patgreene and the boys took me to Hobee's for a (noisy, energetic) brunch. Then Pat headed to KidsPark to drop them off with babysitting before we headed to Santa Cruz... but they were closed on Father's Day (?). So Pat graciously stayed at home while I nursed the Mustang over the hill to Santa Cruz and thence to [livejournal.com profile] mactavish (smile) and friends at Kiva.

Which was calm, and serene, and ferociously warm. Seeing [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and [livejournal.com profile] deyo and [livejournal.com profile] sinboy was fun, and I met [profile] jimweasel and [personal profile] dafydd for the first time. As well as Kim and the stunning lustpumpkin of [personal profile] joedecker, Chris. (Which I can say safely, since she isn't on LJ and Joe doesn't read my journal ;-). We traded stories about remodelling Eichlers... ) And the inevitable comments regarding [personal profile] hopeforyou's and my workplace led to a host of jokes, which I won't dare to repeat. Really... being in a hot tub at the same time as a colleague isn't any more outre than bumping into their shopping cart at the supermarket. After simmering in the hot sun, we decamped to a nearby Italian restaurant... which in turn was next door to... Callahan's Bar. That's what the sign said... It had a chimney.

After creeping back over the mountains on 17, I spent another couple of hours with the kids, as well as some carpentry handwork on a set of salvaged 1950s kitchen cabinets (I'm restoring them).

My sweetie Barbara arrived around 8pm from Oregon, here for a week. After unpacking, we headed out for a quick late dinner and dessert. And some cuddling... it is great to see her again, after 2 months.
