positive outcomes

Today went well... of the five biggest worries I'd had regarding the upcoming field deployment to Spain, three were largely addressed today. The shipment is out, we have a satellite contract, and another issue was discussed fruitfully. (smile)

But the past two afternoons, I've spent with small children... yesterday, [personal profile] cyan_blue came over and taught David, Kevin, and I geocaching... we found four of five. :)

Today, I could have felt rejected, but chose repeatedly to take positive outcomes and meanings away instead. A date scheduled for tonight with J. was cancelled. Then so was lunch with [personal profile] dawnd because of other needs there... but given the already-cleared afternoon schedule, I volunteered instead for Allegra-care to cover for them. As well as having a lovely chance for performing acts of service (cleaning, setup for guests, Allegra's swim lessons). (smile) And J. has agreed to see me next week for lunch, before I go.

Allegra is eight years old... and inquisitive and energetic, and [personal profile] akienm and [personal profile] dawnd's youngest daughter.

I leave very early (5am) on Friday, August 26. A stopover somewhere in the range Sunday - Wednesday should work fine, just let us know a day or two beforehand.

That was very sweet of you to volunteer for Allegra-care :-)

It was indeed. And made it possible for Akien and I to get out of a very very bad negative spiral. So bad it could have threatened our whole relationship, and therefore the community around us. So yeah, what goes around, comes around, and [livejournal.com profile] brian1789's change of plan certainly helped preserve his own community. Enlightened self-interest at play. OTOH, Brian didn't HAVE to do that; we could have found some other way of handling it. I definitely see it as a gift that he gave to us from his very generous heart, and I am grateful.

Any more time left for lunch next week? I should be back mid-day on Tuesday, so would have Wed. or Thurs. if you thought you could squeeze it in.

Ummm... that last was directed at [livejournal.com profile] brian1789, just in case that wasn't completely clear!

Er, not Monday, then....

Definitely not Monday. :^) I'm writing Wed. 8/24 lunch in my calendar now. THIS time for SURE!

what goes around, comes around
(grin) yep. You guys would have found other arrangements, sure, but I'm honored to have a chance to be the supportive one. ;)
