The week
Before I head off to Madrid for the weekend, some photos...
Local scenes can catch me up short, like this image of horse training, from across from the campground:
We drilled over 1m this week, with about 50% core recovery... in the background is the Spanish-designed borehole inspection probe.
Drilling makes dust, which contaminates later specimens... unbeknownst to the remote science team, the "lander" is cleaned between each drilling episode:
And every day, we work until 11pm or later... here's a sunset from the hilltop drilling site.
Cottage, car, laundry drying... a home away from home.
Today, I learned how to bring online the backup wireless link, 5km line-of-sight from the mining tower (here) next to the museum, to the drill site.
Off to Madrid in a few minutes... 5pm here still feels like leaving early. ;)
