sifting through strata...

I'm going through a mound of old mail, some going back to early 2004, that has slowly taken over part of the kitchen counter. I saw a letter from a finance company from June 2004, assumed it was yet another refinance offer, and started to toss it unopened. Caught myself, because it was a company we'd used in 1999 when we bought this house, and there could be some old legal issue.

It was a check for $467.23, for overcharged interest paid in 1999-2000. The check was void after 120 days, but we can probably get it reissued.

Still, it is indicative of how much both [profile] patgreene and I are averse to checking and opening mail, that a check for upwards of $500 sat undiscovered next to the microwave for nearly two years...

Wow. I sure hope you can get that re-issued. I'm sure it will be helpful, if so.

I have my own mound of mail, so I hear you on that...
