I went to the dermatologist today for a follow-up... being middle-aged and a redhead with pale skin, inevitably I'm prone to keratoses (precancerous small rough patches) which I get occasionally burned away with LN2. Today, I'm getting a different treatment... I've been doused in some amino acid, told to wait 3 hours, and then will get irradiated with blue-spectrum and UV light. Which will blister and burn the latent keratoses under the skin that haven't appeared yet. Sort of like getting 5 year's worth, all zapped at once. The downside is pain, and that I may look raccoon-like or like I have measles, until these heal and the skin peels in a week or two.

And some women apparently *volunteer* to have this procedure done as a way to peel away wrinkles... (scratches head). Still, I may be reclusive or cranky for a few days.

Otherwise... I took Kevin in this morning with me. He had a suspicious 4mm mole behind his ear biopsied, and he was nervous about the procedure and needles. But he was brave, and didn't faint, even when they cauterized the spot afterwards and he could smell the smoke...

wow, that sounds like quite a morning. That sounds like a really kinda bizarre-- yet interesting treatment. I'm *so* not volunteering for that treatment myself. I am glad to be a fake redhead ;-)

Yay for Kevin, too. *pats on back*
