If you have the guts, maybe you could wear a bolo string tie instead of a necktie. In the Southwest, the more expensive the slide (Navajo jewelry), the more acceptable it is as business dress. Probably too late for today, but you might consider it for the future. In other words, wear someone else's definition of acceptable business clothing, to fit the climate.
