Over lunch, just finished renewing transportation/pickup 6-month visitor badges for 3 people, including [personal profile] tenacious_snail. And received a quick hug in passing. :)Ironically, this now means that she will have an easier time getting to/from my building than [personal profile] compilerbitch... who works here, but has UK citizenship.

I did have 24/7 access a while ago, but it expired when my badge was renewed last and I didn't bother prodding anyone about it. So yes, [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail can get in at times I can't. :-)

(Having an excuse to go home isn't so terrible sometimes, though!)

It's not the only irony of being on an H1-B, actually. Though I can work on the likes of Ares/Orion, and (previously when doing AFOSR work) have even at one point had my head inside a spy satellite, I can't legally sell my fine art photos. Much of this goes away once my green card comes through, but at the moment things are, well, a bit weird.

Incidentally, if you have car trouble (or some logical equivalent) that requires a lift or a jump start, if I'm on base at the time I'm happy to help -- don't be afraid to ping me or just knock on my door.

(nods) it seems strangely inconsistent, agreed.

Thanks for the kind offer, albeit hopefully one I won't need. :)

Indeed, but even so, should an off-nominal condition occur, etc. etc. :-)
