Sore muscles

jayToday... wasn't boring. I got out of the house, certainly (welcome after two days of relationship angst at home). After James was picked up at 7am from his Disney trip, I went down to San Jose and helped shadopanther move her tiny nonprofit from their second-floor office to a smaller second-floor office at Moffett Field. It took five hours or so... I was the only one there that wasn't either ill or quite out-of-shape... so it fell to me to do the heaviest stuff (servers and 21-inch CRTs) up and down the stairs. The nonprofit's chair offered us volunteers $50 apiece for our help, which I had to decline... not that I needed it anyway, but the company has a NASA contract and I therefore couldn't legally accept any gifts, meals or other remuneration greater than $20.
I figured that this was going to be my community-service day for this weekend ;-).
Aching and sweaty, I came home, collected James and a clean shirt, and went over todawnd and akienm's house and spent almost 3 hours helping in party preparations -- mostly raking or sweeping leaves and cleaning the pool. Which was full of leaves at the bottom. Someone vaguely familiar went with me to buy ice -- I then got a chance to talk and get to know Raven a bit better :-).
I dropped James, showered and changed, got dinner for myself and the kids, and then we all went back to Akien and Dawn's for their pool party. Kevin and David stayed up front with a sitter and were generally well-behaved. Turnout was a bit less than usual, which meant lots of open water... but less energy, I think. Low-key. I met someone new (Troy, part of the RabbitWarren) and talked about geology and information technologies. Otherwise, I checked in withpatgreene (it was only her second PPP, and the first one was years ago) and circulated. Ever careful of protocol, I didn't hug hopeforyou until she had her clothes back on ;-). I had fun talking to dawnd, as well as runeshower, missk, oakdragon , Troy, joedecker,jimweasel, sinboy, Raven, kokoro43, zpdiduda and deliciousdee. And p3aches gave me a quick hug as I was leaving ;-).
