One question I always try to ask myself when I'm ill is 'How infectious am I?' If it is likely to be infectious, then dragging oneself into work isn't the best way of keeping ones projects running, since the people you work with, and work for you, might well catch it and have to take more days off. If you're in the early stages you're probably infectious, and it might be best to work from home - if that's possible.
