New computer!

(grin) Just arrived on my doorstep, so to speak... a Mac G4 titanium Powerbook, with 1GB RAM, a 48MB drive, Airport, and a SuperDrive combination DVD/CD-ROM burner. Now it is finally worth updating my other Apples from 8.X to 10...

Completely forgotten was contemplating a name... and we use static IP addresses in the office, so I have to register *something*.arc.nasa.gov before I can play with it online. Work-related... launch vehicle health monitoring (nurturing?) or Mars drilling automation (mining? wildcatting?) or impact crater geophysics (earth-crossing asteroids?)... hmmm...

How about...

Especially if it goes back with me to the Arctic this summer :-). My favorite is currently Merope... the mythological wife of Sisyphus. She nurtured him and bound his wounds... over and over, presumably. A clear analogy to launch vehicle checkout and diagnosis (hurling weights into orbit)... flows well, and is sufficiently obscure that no one else in the nasa.gov namespace probably has it yet.
