Today was a long waiting period... sitting here 1700 miles from a seriously ill loved one. Feeling helpless. She had a stress test today, with mixed results. On the one hand, the results were sufficiently off-nominal for her to have to retake the test Wednesday, with ultrasonic imaging in place then. On the other, she was well enough for them to send her home, at least for a couple of days. Dave is taking very good care of her. But she still sounds sleepy and low-energy, even in the middle of the day...

Otherwise, at one point today all three computers were down due to operating system upgrades (a distraction for me, at least...) but I recovered the sylvester backup files after all. And next week I've been asked to go back to Alabama, this time for an entire week. Sigh...

i am suddenly somehow certain that all flights from where you are to alabama have a many hours long midwest stopover. all of them. yup. no more non-stops. i think the airlines gave up non-stops for lent. ;)

(grin) oh, I think that's absolutely correct...

My usual route nowadays to Alabama is via Minneapolis and Memphis (or Houston) on Northwest. Preferably with a sizable stopover along the way. Sometimes I can work out a stopover of as much as 8 hours :-D. Carpe diem, under the circumstances...
