Many LBDs and a [profile] rosemom

[personal profile] rosefox had her LBD birthday party tonight at Galia, a generally-lesbian/bi club in the Mission... with encouragement from several of my wonderful friends, I went (despite expecting to feel out of place). Hey, it was a chance to wear my new shiny leather pants... and Rose is now a quarter of a century old, and that's worth celebrating. And I finally got introduced to [profile] rosemom! Who kindly bought us all champagne.

The other three males there -- [personal profile] sinboy, [profile] bikerscum and [personal profile] joedecker -- all looked rather fetching in their LBDs. Seeing the three of them dancing and prancing in the center to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was worth cheering. I was the only guy in the club in pants ;-). [personal profile] rosefox, as the GOH and host, naturally shone in her dress and shiny silver leggings. And [personal profile] hopeforyou was, um, quite impressive in [personal profile] geekchick's former corset.

I persuaded [profile] patgreene to come out with me, and she brought her lovely Russian peacock shawl with a tight top. She danced with me... and others (smile). Once I get warmed-up, the endorphins release and I'm floating... or preferably spinning, jumping or moving quickly. Or bouncing... at one point, I looked at [personal profile] karenbynight and she was bouncing too! Then others started doing likewise... I jumped higher... until [personal profile] hopeforyou fell out of her corset :-). [profile] bdot was there, was welcomed (grin) and was instrumental in getting me to the event in the first place with her insights. But wouldn't dance much, alas... nonetheless, thanks -- and happy 25th, [personal profile] rosefox!

Glad you had a good time!

However, I am clearly ignorant - what's an LBD????

Thanks for the encouragement yesterday, when I was having a periodic crisis of self-doubt :-). And I lifted a glass of champagne for you and [personal profile] purpletigron, as requested. LBD = "little black dress", which unfortunately I lacked in my own wardrobe...

Confessing complete ignorance

What is an LBD?

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-06-20 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry -- LBD = little black dress. It was in Rose's original description in her journal, and her list is so large that I tend to assume that anyone that reads my journal also reads hers. My fault.

Palmforehead. Somehow I missed that description in her journal. Heehee, here I was thinking it was some new trendy thing. I'm such a dork. ;)

I was going to ask if you'd managed to deliver that yet. I suppose I should've also asked for a jpg as confirmation, eh? ;)

Oh, yes ;-)

Someone ([personal profile] rosefox, I think) said "Everyone owes Cathy a vote of thanks for this one."

Followed later in the evening by speculation on how I'd have explained it if my luggage had been searched...

"It isn't mine, I'm just carrying it from my girlfriend to my co-worker, and we're just friends."

If [personal profile] hopeforyou will wear it to work, I'll happily bring my camera and send you one!

i think a better chance is to have her put it on this weekend! don't know how well it would go over at NASA!!!!

Where I work at NASA? It'd raise a few eyebrows, but get more appreciative glances. It's the nexus-overlap between the worlds of rockets and rovers and AI/robotics geekery, with attributes of both cultures...

sounds like a good time was had by all.
