Getting away... and back.
Jul. 7th, 2003 12:12 amBack home...yesterday we had a lovely drive, from our B&B in Mariposa through Yosemite and Tioga Pass and back, with a hike in the desert to Mono Lake. Convertible top-down, it was glorious. Still some snow banks left at 10K feet, too. And last night we sipped margaritas in an otherwise-deserted hot tub and snuggled and counted meteors in the rural dark sky.
The B&B was excellent -- comfy, with great food. Run by a French-American couple (he's from Marseilles, she's from Covina) and displaying both flags outside -- that amused me on the 4th ;-). An international group of guests, Americans were a minority there. In a lovely Sierra foothill location.
Today we drove home, via the ghost town of Hornitos (once 10,000, now a couple dozen) where we heard "Amazing Grace" drifting from the open meeting hall. And via a very bumpy one-lane paved road. Arriving home, Nancy and I moved cabinets out and we sanded and cleaned them, until time to clean ourselves up for dinner with EA, a friend visiting this week. She was her perky, philosophical self... we all went to our favorite Chinese restaurant. A lovely weekend.
