Re-adjustment
Jul. 22nd, 2003 12:02 amSomehow, it feels like I only left here a couple of weeks ago. Weren't we just taking down the satellite dish in the pouring rain? And stowing gear for the winter? It's at once alien and familiar, far away and strangely home.
But cold... I'm shivering in the tent as I write this. No heat, just 34F and 20 knot winds. Balmy summer, for Devon.
This morning was standby again, watching the weather. After lunch I went over to the Polar Shelf warehouse to help organize our manifests for today.

Around three an aircraft appeared, after the snow abated a bit. I was the only passenger, so got to ride in the last row, behind diesel fuel and propane ;-)

The flight was uneventful... about an hour, and we passed over the camp:

I saw several friends in passing, who got on the same airplane headed home. My new tent went up easily and is quite roomy... three could sleep there. Most of the rest of the day was spent unpacking and setting up my workspace.
Finally... good news: my gravity meter cleared Customs and will be flown in Wednesday. bad news: the Hamilton-Sundstrand space suit, necessary for the suited tests, is now tied up likewise in Customs. Sigh...
