A good finish
Jul. 23rd, 2003 09:53 amWith some sun peeking out, I decided to ask the Hamilton-Sundstrand guys if they wanted to visit one of the possible spacesuit test sites near base camp. They had cabin fever, and agreed.
I was a bit nervous leading the traverse, because I hadn't done so since last summer. But it was good to get back on an ATV and work out in the field again. We went to Site 6, a few km from camp (a dolomite plateau between two streams) and saw an interesting fossil-bearing boulder on a pedestal:

On the way back, on request of the H-S guys I took them up to Haynes Ridge so they could look down into the crater. It was also near the Mars Society's habitat, as shown behind me:

Then we returned to base, opened my birthday Scotch, and shared it and leftover cake with the greenhouse folks, who were celebrating getting their windmill generator going.
