The day... was frustrating. Nothing to do... I felt like I was wasting my time here. But equipment arrived, and the sun came out, and it got better.

At least the net connection was back up this morning, so I could catch up. And respond to requests from work... in the afternoon, I took a tour of our new greenhouse:

And they plan to keep it running year around, with a combined solar-wind system:

Later, I helped a French grad student with his soil resistivity measurements... a rolling platform with electrodes and poles.

Note the polygons in the soil... a periglacial feature.

After dinner a Twin Otter arrived with cargo -- the spacesuit, and the gravity meter (shown in its case):

And used it to practice, calculating that the absolute gravity field here is about half a percent higher than at sea level at the equator... so a 200 lb person would be a pound heavier.

So... I was depressed and felt a bit useless earlier... but now things are better. Tomorrow will hopefully be busy ;-).

Well, I am glad you are reconnected to the world and that your gravity meter arrived. I must admit, I WAS curious about what such a thing would look like.~warm smile~

Hang in there and stay warm...
