7:45am, and I've already written presentation material for JL regarding our proposal selection process.

Yesterday was an improvement for me over Tuesday, certainly... in our morning telecon about the Spanish deployment, my equipment arrived safely in Nerva. Their net connection is up, so I will be able to stay in touch from the field. I bought a GSM tri-band cellphone and Spanish SIM card with project funds, then had lunch with [profile] patgreene... we were both stressed and a bit cranky, but we were civil. I'm glad that she asked me :-).

After talking to the AERcam and Robonaut folks, visiting from JSC, I headed up to SF during rush hour (eep!) where I met [personal profile] rosefox and went over to SFSI to hear Isadora Alman talk about "We've Got to Talk", tips on asking for things and on making difficult communication easier. Usually she lectures to larger groups -- but we were just nine people around a table, so there was more sharing and open discussion. No startling revelations, but it was a useful reminder of some of my communication goals. [personal profile] rosefox also had the chance to meet some of the people that will be doing SFSI interviews and training later in the fall... she should be a shoo-in (smile).

After I turned left on a green light and nearly hit a oncoming motorcyclist (I'm used to green arrows and protected turns outside of SF, sigh... thank goodness for enough horsepower to get out of the way fast!) I hung out at House Dreamland for awhile after bringing Rose home, and talked about accents and medical coverage... and de-stressed from the near-miss. Then headed home. Then fell asleep at the computer, trying to do JL's slides ;-).

sounds like quite a day.

hey, I was wondering if you got a couple of emails that I sent you in the past couple days?

reason I ask, is that I've heard from a couple poeple that stuff they're sending to my inbox is bouncing. I also noticed that [livejournal.com profile] dawnd 's comments are not being delivered to my inbox like usual. I may be missing other people's comments too.
oh, horror!!

just wondering, cause it seems like maybe something's amiss with my email.

I got them, but replies to you are not being delivered: "transient non-fatal errors." Do you have another address besides seanet?

The SFSI training is cool, and the people you meet even more so...

When did you take it? I was in the Fall '98 class... socially I was several-sigma out of place, especially back then. Too suburban, too much of an ingenue, too uncool. Between that and living an hour away from the SFSI offices, I barely stayed in contact after the first year's service obligation was settled... great people, though.

First time must have been in 89. Another probably in 90. I'd like to make time to go back for a refresher!
